Personalized Coaching

Thank you for your interest in my coaching services.  A little bit about me and my background.  I began cycling in 1988 and it has become my life’s passion ever since. I competed in two Olympic Games, won the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships, the UCI World Cup Overall, and thirteen US National Championships in road, MTB, and cyclocross.  I began coaching in 2000 and since retiring from competitive racing in 2009 I have been working full-time coaching cyclists and running skills camps and clinics. I am a USA Cycling Level I coach, a certified Professional Mountain Bike Instructor out of Whistler, BC, a Wilderness First Responder, and a proud mom to my 6 1/2 year old son Emmett.

I have worked with all ages and abilities in road, mountain bike and cyclocross.  My diverse cycling background beginning in the collegiate ranks, up through amateur and professional cycling, to the Olympics, and now as a business owner and parent, gives me a unique perspective on the demands and challenges of being an athlete.  I find tremendous joy in working with the different facets of cycling; from helping a junior rider enter her first high school mountain bike race, working with a Pro/Elite cyclist training for the World Championships, to being a life coach for my 73 year old Harvard Business School graduate as he trains for the 125 mile Death Ride.  It is all cycling and it’s my passion and my life!

I offer three coaching packages.  All are developed and written by me and can be used by all levels of cyclists.

Full service coaching

Monthly fee:  $325 plus a one-time $100 start-up fee

Program includes:

  •  Monthly program with daily workouts, including: riding, strength training, cross training, and nutrition
  •  Analysis of power files in Cycling Peaks; WKO+, GPS, SRM, Power Tap, Polar, etc.
  •  Strength training program
  •  Nutritional analysis
  •  Unlimited phone and email contact during business hours
  •  No monthly contract.  30 day notice to cancel

My full-service coaching program is for the cyclist that is ready to make a serious commitment to improving his or her riding.  From beginner to elite, training for Ride the Rockies or the World Championships, anyone can benefit from working with a coach.  If we work together you'll receive a specific detailed plan that is written just for you.  You'll have a year overview as well as day to day workouts, weight training, cross-training, nutritional guidelines, and whatever else you think you might need.

I don't like the coaching packages that limit the contact you have with your coach.  There are so many things that can come up in our day to day lives that affect one's training that it is really important to be able to talk to your coach whenever you need to.  I like my athletes to send me a text, email, or call every couple of days letting me know how the training is going.  Good communication is essential.

The benefit to my full-service coaching is that you no longer have to guess at what works and what doesn’t.  When you get sick, injured or work commitments get in the way, I can rework your schedule and make immediate changes.  If you’re riding poorly I’m able to analyze your workouts to find what’s causing the problem.  Having a coach takes all the uncertainty out of training.  With all the years I’ve raced at the elite level, there are things I can help you with that you’ll never find in books.  It becomes a great partnership that works well and brings exciting improvements.

Semi full service coaching

Monthly fee:  $195 plus a one-time $100 start-up fee

Program includes:

•  Monthly program with daily workouts, including: riding, strength training, cross training, and nutrition
•  Analysis of power files in Cycling Peaks; WKO+, GPS, SRM,         Power Tap, Polar, etc.
•  Strength training program
•  Nutritional analysis
•  One monthly phone call and two email updates per month
•  No monthly contract.  30 day notice to cancel

My semi full-service coaching program is for the cyclist that is ready to make a serious commitment to improving his or her riding but can’t afford to pay for a full-service program.  You’ll get a personalized training plan that is written just for you with a year overview as well as day to day workouts, weight training, cross-training, and nutritional guidelines. The program is yours and is designed around your schedule, family commitments, events and races.  We’ll go over all the training at the beginning of the month, answer any questions you might have, and then off you go.  You can send me an email every other week with questions and updates.  At the end of the training block we will talk on the phone and go over the next month’s training.

The benefit to my semi full-service coaching is that you get a specific personalized training program for you and your specific goals at an affordable price.   With our busy schedules and hectic lives, this more “hands off” approach to coaching works well with individuals that are motivated, organized and enjoy the independence and autonomy of working on their own.

Self Service Coaching

Monthly fee:  $60 plus a one-time $100 start-up fee

Program includes:

My self-service coaching program is a more affordable hands-off approach to training.  With this you’ll get a monthly training program written by me for your race category, ability level, or age group.  It won’t be personalized to you specifically.  You’ll have day to day workouts with concise explanations about everything you’ll be doing.  The difference is once you get your program you’re on your own.  You are your own motivator and coach and the only person you answer to is yourself.  If anything comes up; sickness, travel, work etc. you have to figure things out on your own.  There is no coach/athlete relationship other than the once a month email you get from me with your new calendar.   The potential drawback is you have no guidance from me.  The benefit is the cost and the flexibility to do what you want.
